The Kenya Tsetse & Trypanosomiasis Eradication Council (KENTTEC) CEO Dr. Seth Onyango, today, attended the launch of the National Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) Vaccination Campaign at Syokithumbi in Kithumula/Kwamutonga ward in Kitui West Constituency, Kitui County.
The launch was done by Hon. Jonathan Mueke, the Principal Secretary, State Department for Livestock Development.

The campaign will start with Kitui County and then move to Embu and Tharaka-Nithi Counties before rolling out to other Counties. The campaign supported by World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) and Vétérinaires San Frontières (VSF) Germany is geared towards eliminating the disease by the year 2030.

The Principal Secretary pointed out that vaccination coupled with good feeding and breeding programmes will help Kenya access the livestock market in the European Union (EU) and Middle East countries that have been negotiated through Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements.
